How to propagate violets and what to pay attention to

Violet reproduction method

There are many ways to propagate violets, such as division, cuttings and leaf cuttings. Its seeds can also be propagated. Generally speaking, violets propagated by division grow faster and have a higher survival rate.

Violet breeding time

It is generally more suitable to propagate violets from mid-August to early October. During this period, the plants grow faster and the survival rate of reproduction is high, but it can also be adjusted according to the actual flowering time.

Violet breeding method

Violet division propagation

Take the violet out of the pot with the soil, shake off the attached soil, and cut it off with the roots and buds using a sharp knife according to the distribution of the plant's new shoots. Apply wood ash on the incision, dry and disinfect the injured leaves, and cultivate it in time. After planting, water it thoroughly using the immersion pot method, and place it in a shaded and ventilated place for maintenance.

Violet cutting propagation

First, prepare fertile soil and place it in the flowerpot, then wet the soil, choose thick branches that are free of diseases and dead leaves, cut them from the roots, apply a layer of mud on the cut, wait for 10 minutes, then insert it into the soil and do a good job of post-maintenance.

Violet seed propagation

The seeds can be sown in August-October. Usually, the seeds are very small, so you need to be careful when choosing the potting soil. First, water the culture soil thoroughly, then sow a few seeds, keep a certain distance, and then cover the seeds with a thin layer of sand to keep the soil moist without water accumulation.

Violet leaf cuttings

From June to July every year, select thick violet leaves and cut them off together with the petioles, about 2-3 cm in length. After the cut is dry, you can insert it into the soil.

Notes on Violet Breeding

When propagating violets by sowing, the soil must not be too wet. After sowing, place it in a ventilated place and control the temperature at 18-24 degrees. Small buds will sprout after about 20 days. Then place it in a warm place with scattered light and maintain it properly.
