How to grow wisteria to make it bloom more

Wisteria Growing Conditions

Wisteria is relatively cold-resistant and grows best between 15-25 degrees. It likes light and its best growing environment is exposed to sunlight. It has strong adaptability to soil and is best cultivated in soil with deep soil layers and good drainage.

How to grow wisteria

If we want the wisteria we grow to bloom more, we should water it in time and keep it hydrated. We can fertilize it 2-3 times a year. We should give it enough sunlight during maintenance and keep the temperature above 0℃ in winter. In addition, it grows relatively fast, so remember to prune it in time.

Wisteria watering

Wisteria is drought-resistant, but it prefers moist soil, so try to keep the soil surface moist, but don't water it too much, otherwise the roots will rot.

Wisteria Fertilization

Wisteria does not require too much fertilization. A small amount of nitrogen fertilizer, superphosphate, etc. can be applied before the plant sprouts. Top dressing should be done 2 to 3 times during the growing period. Fertilizer can be decomposed human or animal feces.

Wisteria Pest and Disease Control

1. When soft rot occurs in wisteria, carbendazim and thiophanate-methyl can be used for prevention and control. When leaf spot occurs, the environmental conditions need to be changed as soon as possible. In the early stage of the disease, the diseased leaves need to be removed in time, and Bordeaux mixture should be sprayed 4-5 times, once every 7 days, to control the damage.

2. The main insect pests of wisteria are scale insects, which usually parasitize on the edges of the leaves of the plant. In severe cases, the whole plant will wither and die. You can use omethoate emulsion spray to kill them or marathon emulsion to spray them.

How to grow wisteria at home

1. When growing wisteria at home, the soil needs to have good drainage and air permeability. It should be placed in a well-lit place indoors to allow it to get more sun, which is beneficial for the plant to accumulate nutrients and bloom more.

2. When watering, you can wait until the soil surface turns white and dry and then water it thoroughly. If you maintain it outdoors, you should take precautions against rain during consecutive rainy days. During the growth period of wisteria, you need to fertilize it frequently. You can water it with thin liquid fertilizer every half a month, and use phosphorus and potassium fertilizers before flowering.

Wisteria care precautions

During the growth period of potted wisteria, when the new branches grow to 14-17cm, pinch the top of the plant to promote more branches and prevent the wisteria from growing too big and affecting its appearance as a bonsai. Heavy pruning is performed every year after the flowers fade to avoid excessive nutrient consumption.
