How to grow Clivia to make it bloom

Clivia blooms

The flowering period of Clivia is from January to February. The flower color is orange-red and very bright. However, the flowering period varies depending on the maintenance temperature. Sometimes it will be delayed to March to April. In addition, it is a plant that blooms all year round and often blooms from January to February. At this time, it is necessary to maintain good ventilation and sufficient scattered light, and apply water and fertilizer in appropriate amounts to make it bloom better.

It is not common to see Clivia blooming, but if you see it blooming, it means that happy events are approaching. It is a flower that symbolizes good luck and can also bring good Feng Shui fortune.

Clivia cultivation and flowering method

You need to wait for Clivia to bloom. It will only bloom after it grows 20 to 25 leaves. Sufficient nutrients need to be provided during maintenance. It is best to apply fertilizers containing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, but not too much nitrogen fertilizer. It is easier for it to bloom during the growing season, but difficult to bloom during the dormant period unless you create a cool, ventilated and relatively low temperature environment for it.

How long does it take for Clivia to bloom?

Generally speaking, Clivia will bloom when it has about 14 leaves, and it is best to start blooming when it has 12 leaves.

How to grow Clivia more vigorously

The suitable growth temperature for Clivia is between 12-28 degrees, not too high or too low. It needs bright scattered light and shade in summer. It is suitable for planting in loose, fertile and well-drained soil. Water it when the soil is dry and avoid water accumulation. Do not water the leaves. During maintenance, turn the dial 180 degrees and the tip of the leaf should face the light source.

How to care for Clivia and make it bloom quickly

To make the Clivia bloom, it needs to be applied with phosphorus and potassium fertilizers every 10 days during its growth period. It needs to be given sufficient but not excessive water, generally watered once every 2-3 days. Keep it at a temperature of 15-25℃, and maintain the temperature above 10℃ in winter. It should also be kept in a bright, diffused light place, and do not keep it in the dark for a long time.

Reasons why Clivia does not bloom

1. Too much light. Although Clivia is a positive plant, it will be burned if placed in the sun for a long time, which will affect the flowering effect of the plant.

2. Temperature issue. Generally, the maintenance temperature of Clivia is controlled between 15-25, which is more conducive to its flowering. If the temperature is too high or too low, it will affect flowering.

3. The soil in the pot is dry and hard. If the soil is too dry, the Clivia will not bloom. It is necessary to water it regularly and replace the soil in the pot appropriately so that the roots can grow, which is conducive to flowering.

4. Fertilizer factor: Fertilizer plays a promoting role in the flowering of Clivia. It should not be too much or too little. Fertilizer should be applied reasonably according to the living space.

5. Growth space: Clivia needs appropriate space to grow, so the pot should not be too big or too small, otherwise it will affect the flowering effect of Clivia.
