How to grow lotus in a water tank

How to grow lotus in a water tank

1. Choose a water tank

Transparent water tanks are not conducive to the growth of lotus buds, so when growing lotus in water tanks, you must choose opaque containers. You can choose ceramic materials or dark-colored water tanks.

2. Soil and Water

Lotus is an aquatic plant, so water and soil are indispensable. When preparing these two things, it is best to disinfect them both, because there are germs in the water very easily, and if the soil is not disinfected, insects will soon grow. Therefore, the soil and water must be disinfected, and then they are mixed according to the proportion to make cultivation soil. After it is made, sprinkle base fertilizer in it. Bone meal can be used as the fertilizer, because bone meal and soil have the best fit, which is beneficial for the lotus to absorb nutrients, and finally the lotus can be grown.

3. Lighting

It is a sun-loving plant, so it must be exposed to at least eight hours of natural light every day to meet its survival needs. The days are short in winter, so you can place it on a balcony or grow it outdoors to give it maximum light.

4. Fertilization

During the growing and flowering periods, it has a particularly high demand for nutrients, so during these two special periods, it is necessary to ensure sufficient nutrients and fertilize at least twice a month. In autumn and winter, it is in a dormant period and does not need too much nutrients. Too much nutrients will damage its health, so generally no fertilizer is needed in autumn and winter. If fertilizer is applied, it is best not to exceed once a month.
