These 8 types of geraniums bloom wildly in summer and won’t die even in temperatures as high as 40 degrees!

Which varieties of geraniums are good at surviving the summer?

Large-flowered plants like Flaming Lips, Lijiang Plant, Charlotte, Deli, Chocolate, etc.; upright plants like White Star, Mountain Palace, Diva, and Rose-Red Star; and hanging plants like Summer Rose, Snow White, and Nellie are all relatively easy to survive the summer, and they bloom quickly and look beautiful!

How to manage geraniums in summer?

After the temperature rises to 30 degrees, geraniums will gradually enter dormancy. In fact, it is not difficult to care for geraniums after dormancy. The key is to nourish the roots. It will be fine as long as you don't use too much water or fertilizer.

1. Proper water control

Geraniums should be watered less frequently in summer, but should not be left without watering. Watering should be done every 5 to 7 days. Also, be careful not to spray water on the leaves frequently. Although spraying water can cool down the plant, if the water does not evaporate in time, the leaves and stems will rot.

2. Shade

When the temperature of the potting soil is too high, the roots are easily injured, and direct sunlight will also burn the leaves, so it must be shaded, with a maximum of 2 hours of direct sunlight in the morning and evening, and the rest of the time placed in a place with scattered light indoors.

3. Reduce fertilization

In high temperature environments, stop applying nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers to control plant growth and inhibit bud formation. You can apply a little thin potassium fertilizer occasionally to strengthen the roots and protect the seedlings.

4. Ventilation

Geraniums are most afraid of stuffiness and heat, so they must be ventilated in the summer, otherwise it will easily cause root rot and leaf wilt. Cut off old and dead leaves, keep young and strong leaves, and place a fan around the flower pot to increase air convection.
