How to repot Jade Plant

How to repot Jade Plant

1. Time

Pay attention to the time of repotting. It should not be done during the growing season because the temperature is relatively high at this time, the bacteria will be more active, and the plant may become waterlogged and die of disease. Water evaporates quickly, and the roots after repotting cannot provide water immediately, so the plant is likely to die from dehydration.

The best time is at the beginning of winter or early spring when the temperature is suitable, and the survival rate will be much higher. Generally, it is repotted once every one or two years.

2. Steps

The first thing you need to do is to remove the plant from the pot, leaving one-third of the soil above the roots, taking care to protect the roots, and then add a certain amount of soil. The new soil should preferably be a combination of leaf mold and garden soil. Of course, adding some coarse sand will be more valuable, and it will also be more nutritious and help with ventilation and drainage. The new pot needs to slowly grow roots, so we cannot water it immediately. We need to wait three or four days before watering it. There are also requirements for new pots. They must have ventilation holes, otherwise it will easily cause root rot. During the seedling acclimatization period, it must not be exposed to direct sunlight or frostbitten. It must be given certain ventilation conditions and watered only after the soil is completely dry. After about two to three weeks you will be able to manage it normally.

3. Notes

① If the plant has an adverse condition, and this condition is related to repotting, we cannot change it again, including the soil, otherwise it will worsen the condition. The best way is not to move it.

② Spraying water is not necessary because it has a high tolerance to drought. Just water it when its surface is dry.

③During the growth period, sunlight, fertilizer, etc. are not needed.

④ It is normal to lose a small amount of leaves, but if a lot of leaves fall, you need to start management.
