How to grow bougainvillea during flowering period

How to grow bougainvillea during flowering period

1. Light

This plant is extremely light-loving by nature. Not to mention during the flowering period. During the entire flowering period, it can be placed in a place with sufficient light for a long time. Don't worry about strong light exposure being harmful to it. On the contrary, with strong light, its flowering period can last longer. In addition, the flowers are dark in color and numerous.

2. Pruning

This plant grows and develops very quickly, so it needs to be pruned and topped regularly. The time is generally concentrated in spring and summer. It is not suitable to be carried out after August. It is best to pinch the flowers before they bloom. In this way, it can bloom better and in greater quantities.

3. Moisture

The main thing is to deduct water. It needs to start about four or five weeks before the flowering period (around mid-August). After watering once, wait until the leaves droop before watering again. The extent should not be enough to kill the plant. Once the rudiments of the flowers have formed between the branches, you can resume normal watering. This practice is to increase the concentration of intracellular fluid in order to promote the differentiation of flower buds.

4. Fertilization

During the flowering period, the plant is very sensitive to urea. If too much is used, there will be a situation where the branches, leaves and roots are lush but there are few flowers. Generally speaking, during the flowering period, a (KH2SO4) solution with a concentration of 0.2 to 0.3 percent can be used as a topdressing fertilizer on the leaves once every half a month. In addition, you can also use some liquid fertilizer. After the flowering period, you can continue to use urea.
