How to repot a kumquat tree

How to repot a kumquat tree

1. How to repot young plants

1. When the young plants are ready to be replaced with new pots, they need to be repotted in time. Generally, the pot is replaced with a new one around Qingming Festival. The new pot should be one size larger than the original one. Either a clay pot or a ceramic pot will do.

2. Like most other plants, you need to choose soil that is fertile, loose, breathable and well-drained. It is best to have a lot of humus in the soil. When potting it, you can add some livestock urine and feces or fermented cake fertilizer as base fertilizer. The owner can also prepare the soil for it by himself, using ordinary garden soil, rotten leaves and some fine sand, coal ash, fermented cake fertilizer, etc., mix them together and then use them.

3. After changing the new pot, water it thoroughly at one time to help it stabilize its root system. Then shorten its branches appropriately, remove weak and broken branches, and wait for it to recover before sprouting new branches. You can also trim it to make the tree shape more compact.

2. How to repot mature plants

1. After it reaches adulthood, you should change its pot generally every three years or so, and it should be replaced before it blooms. First, take it out of the old pot, remove the densely growing ones, and then move it to the new pot. The size of the new pot should be determined according to its growth conditions. It is best to replace it with a larger pot.

2. First cover the bottom of the new pot with a layer of tiles to improve drainage, then use decomposed cake fertilizer as base fertilizer, and then cover it with a layer of prepared potting soil. Then move it into a pot, compact the soil around it, water it thoroughly at once, and place it in a cool area for a few days.

3. Before repotting it, you need to prepare the soil in advance. Use breathable soil, preferably sandy, and it is best to mix some fermented organic fertilizer into the soil. After changing the pot, you need to water, fertilize, and prune it regularly to keep it growing well. The tree shape will be neater, and the flowers and fruits will grow better.
