When to fertilize kumquat

When to fertilize kumquat

1. When to fertilize it

It can be fertilized in many seasons, such as early November to December, February to March in spring, and mid-to-late May.

2. Specific fertilization methods

1. Apply more fertilizer in winter. After picking its fruits, you need to loosen the soil and plow it deep, and add some organic fertilizer to help it resume its growth and allow its flower buds to differentiate better. From November to December, dig a deep trench based on the outer edge of the tree crown and put mixed fertilizer in it. In winter, you should add more fertilizer to it, which can lay the foundation for more fruiting in the next year. At the same time, you should add fertilizer early in winter, mainly using organic fertilizer.

2. Apply spring fertilizer early. When it sprouts in spring, for example from late February to late March, applying more N fertilizer and P fertilizer can make the top of the tree grow thicker and help the flowering branches become stronger. This can provide the treetops with sufficient nutrients to prepare for fruiting.

3. Fruit fertilizer should be applied skillfully. In mid-to-late May, you can use N fertilizer to replenish the nutrients consumed during flowering, so that the fruits will not fall due to lack of nutrients. When the fruits grow up from July to September, nitrogen fertilizer is needed in combination with phosphorus and potassium fertilizers to provide sufficient nutrition for both the fruits and autumn shoots.

3. Notes

When fertilizing it, you should pay attention to its growth trend and the soil and climate of the flower, and then determine the dosage and method of supplementary fertilizer. In the dry season, you should water it first to make the soil moist enough and then apply fertilizer so that the roots can absorb better. For trees with very good growth trends, you cannot apply too much nitrogen fertilizer, otherwise the treetops will grow too vigorously and the fruits will fall easily.
