How to grow lilac

How to grow lilac

1. Lighting conditions

It likes an environment with plenty of sunlight. It will grow weakly and its flowering rate will be reduced in the shade, so it should be planted in a place with long sunshine hours.

2. Temperature conditions

The climate of the native region of this flower is warm and humid, with an average temperature of 21 degrees Celsius. Pay attention to controlling the temperature during breeding. Although it has a certain degree of cold resistance, it will die if the temperature is too low.

3. Soil environment

Lilac requires loose soil with good drainage and fertility. It should not be planted in cold and humid places.

4. Watering rules

Because of its strong adaptability, you only need to water it during drought and then loosen the soil to retain moisture. However, May and June are its growth and flowering stages, and it needs to be watered two or three times a month, and it must be watered thoroughly so that it can fully absorb water. After entering the rainy season, pay attention to drainage and prevent waterlogging, but water the plants sufficiently before winter.

5. Fertilization cycle

This plant should not be overfertilized, otherwise it will grow too tall. Under normal circumstances, fertilization is sufficient as long as it can ensure normal nutrient absorption, but nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be applied in time after flowering for the flowers to absorb.

6. Pruning tips

All things grow in spring, so they are usually pruned before the arrival of spring, mainly cutting off thin, malnourished weak branches and overly dense branches.

7. Disease prevention

There are many kinds of diseases, including those caused by bacteria, viruses, and fungi. In addition, pests such as aphids are also harmful to it. These situations often occur in hot and humid weather, so special attention should be paid to spraying protective drugs.
