Can the catnip be propagated by cuttings in winter?

1. Can cuttings be taken?

The catnip can be propagated by cuttings in winter.

Friends who have raised it know that it is very popular. Its cute appearance and special fragrance make people want to grow a few pots and put them in the room. You also know that if you want to grow a few more pots, you have to buy new ones. In fact, it is not necessary. As long as you have a pot of catnip at home, you can use it to propagate a few pots. When propagating, we like to use the cutting method the most. This method can be carried out no matter what season, so it can even be done in winter. But one thing to note is that if you choose to do cuttings in winter, we must adjust the temperature and humidity well, so as to help the cuttings survive.

2. Operation method

1. Cutting Preparation

For cuttings, we need to prepare the cuttings first. Generally, we choose some thicker branches on the plant, then find a pair of scissors to cut them off, and then disinfect them slightly. Then find a container and put the branches in it. After placing them, you can move the container to a warm place. If the temperature is not enough, we can cover it with a layer of film. After waiting for about 3 weeks, roots will grow on the branches, and then you can start cuttings.

2. How to take cuttings

Before we do cuttings, we should prepare the flower pots first and add some looser soil into the pots. If the soil is too hard, it will be difficult to insert the cuttings. After the potting soil is prepared, we can take out the branches with roots and slowly insert them into the soil, leaving half of the branches exposed outside. Be sure not to insert all of them. This way the cuttings are ready.

3. Maintenance after cutting

Because the temperature is low in winter and the air is very dry, we try to move it to a warmer place for maintenance after cuttings, and find a humidifier to alleviate the dryness of the air. It won’t take long before it takes root and grows leaves.
