Water and fertilizer management of water lily

Water and fertilizer management of water lily

1. Water level

Because it mainly lives in places with water, the water management we talk about mainly refers to the water level.

The water level that needs to be controlled is different when the plants are in different growth stages. For example, when it is in the early stages of growth, its petioles are relatively short, so the water level should be as shallow as possible and the leaves should not be exposed to the air. This will increase the water temperature as quickly as possible and promote root development. As the plant grows, the water level should be slowly raised; when it reaches the most vigorous period, the water level should reach the maximum, which is conducive to the storage of nutrients.

In addition, the water level should be adjusted accordingly according to seasonal changes. For example, in autumn, you should lower the water level to allow it to receive sufficient sunlight. When the weather turns cooler in late autumn and early winter, you should deepen the water level to help it survive the winter better.

2. Topdressing

Principles: The first is to benefit the growth of plants, and the second is to try not to waste water, otherwise the increase of nutrients in the water will lead to pollution.

Fertilizer selection: We usually mix fertilizer and clay in a certain proportion and then apply it into the water.

Specific method: In order to achieve the above purpose, we can use materials with good toughness and water absorption to wrap the fertilizer, and poke a few holes in the bag, which is conducive to the release of the fertilizer.

Time selection: Top dressing can be started fifteen days before the peak flowering period, and then once every half a month or so to ensure the quality of flowering. However, it is important to note that not too much fertilizer should be applied each time.
