Water and fertilizer management and flowering period control of Rhododendron dew

Water and fertilizer management and flowering period control of Rhododendron dew

1. Fertilizer management of dewdrop azalea

1. Soil requirements

Azalea is suitable for growing in acidic soil. Alkaline soil can easily cause poor development of azalea. Dew azalea has higher requirements for soil. People in the north love to grow dewdrop azalea, but the soil in the north is not suitable for the growth of dewdrop azalea. Because the pH value of the soil in the north is relatively alkaline, the culture soil for planting dewdrop azalea must be prepared together with humus soil.

2. Fertilizer concentration

Anyone who has grown dewdrop azaleas knows that their roots are whisker-shaped and particularly thin, so there are very high requirements for the formulation of fertilizers and the quality of water. Therefore, when applying fertilizer, you must control the concentration and never make it too high. So you can apply more thin fertilizers and be more diligent.

3. Types of Fertilization

So how to fertilize in different seasons? Dewdrop azalea needs to be given a phosphate fertilizer once in the spring to speed up the growth of leaves and buds before flowering. After flowering, one or two applications of mixed fertilizers such as nitrogen and phosphorus are needed. In autumn, it is the bud formation period again, and it is necessary to apply phosphorus fertilizer once or twice at this time. So it can be seen that the growth and flowering stages of the dew azalea are more troublesome and time-consuming.

2. Watering management of dewdrop azalea

Dewdrop Azalea likes a cool and humid environment, so the humidity around the flowers must be maintained at all times, and naturally the air humidity around the flowers must be maintained at all times. In summer, the water in the soil and plants evaporates easily, causing the soil to become very dry. Therefore, you should water the plants more often in summer to keep the soil moist. In winter, do not water too frequently. Water only when the plant is dry. Do not water too much because growth is slow in winter and too much water can easily cause the roots to rot.

3. Flowering period control of dewdrop azalea

In autumn, the dew azalea will differentiate flower buds. After people discovered this pattern, they began to control the flowering period on their own. You can refrigerate the Dewdrop Azalea in advance. If you want it to bloom early, put it in a greenhouse for cultivation, control the temperature at around 25 degrees Celsius, and water the flowers and leaves frequently, keep the surrounding air humidity above 80, and then wait patiently for about 45 days to harvest the beautiful Dewdrop Azalea.
