How to pinch the top of zinnia

How to pinch the top of zinnia

The necessity of pinching zinnias

Why is it necessary to pinch the top of zinnias? This is because of the fast growth rate of zinnia itself. If zinnia is allowed to grow wildly, it will destroy the overall shape of the plant, grow unevenly, and is not conducive to the uniform opening of the flowers. Therefore, pinching should be done when necessary.

How to pinch the tip of clover

When to pinch

First of all, we need to know when the clover needs to be pinched? When the clover grows to more than four to six leaves, it needs to be topped off.

First time topping

When the zinnia seedlings grow to 4 leaves , they should be transplanted and topped . Start pinching the tops of the zinnia seedlings about a week after transplanting . When the seedlings are about 10 cm tall , leave two pairs of leaves and pinch off the remaining leaves.

Second pinching

It does not mean that you never have to pinch the branches again after the first pinching. When the side branches grow 2-3 pairs of leaves, you can pinch the branches for the second time. You can treat it with chlormequat solution, spray the solution evenly on the upper leaves of the plant, once every one to two weeks, for a total of 2 to 3 treatments. You cannot pinch the tops of the plants whenever you want. You should decide whether to pinch the tops of the plants next time based on the growth and branching of the plants.
