How to plant Kalanchoe through leaves

How to plant Kalanchoe through leaves

Kalanchoe leaf cutting method

Step 1: Choose the blade

To propagate Kalanchoe leaf cuttings, we must first select healthy and harmless leaves, and then make sure the petiole must be intact;

After selecting the leaves, you need to dry them in the sun for a whole morning, mainly to allow the wounds at the bottom of the leaves to dry.

Step 2: Choose potting soil

When doing leaf cuttings, you can choose a normal flower pot, which should be larger and not too small;

The soil can be peat or garden soil as the substrate for cuttings.

Step 3: Take leaf cuttings

When planting Kalanchoe through leaf cuttings, the petiole should be buried in the soil. Note that the leaves should be exposed and the soil only needs to cover the petiole.

After cuttings, place them in a cool and ventilated place for maintenance.

Step 4: Watering

The growth period of Kalanchoe leaf cuttings is generally long. It takes 5-6 months for it to germinate, so don't be impatient.

Normal watering only requires the soil to be slightly moist, and then watering should be done after the soil is dry.

Precautions for Kalanchoe leaf cuttings

First of all, if it is a flowering Kalanchoe, we must wait until the flowers have faded before we can do leaf cuttings. At this time, we have to remove the withered flowers before doing cuttings.

Secondly, during the process of Kalanchoe cuttings, the substrate should not be too moist, watering should not be too frequent, and the amount of water should not be too large, otherwise root rot will easily occur, affecting the growth of the plant.

The temperature environment for cuttings of Kalanchoe needs to be between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius to avoid frostbite on the plants.
