How to propagate Daphne odora

How to propagate Daphne odora

How to sow the seeds of Daphne odora

When sowing Osmanthus fragrans, choose loose, fertile, well-drained acidic soil and avoid using alkaline soil.

The sowing time is generally chosen in spring. The seeds are sown in pots indoors and the temperature is controlled at around 20℃. After sowing, cover with glass or plastic film to keep it moist and place it in a bright place.

The sowing method for growing Osmanthus fragrans takes a long time. If you have enough patience, you can try it.

Cutting method of Daphne koreana

The cuttings of Osmanthus fragrans can be carried out in spring, summer and autumn, usually from late February to late March in spring. Choose one-year-old branches, about 10 cm in length, cut off the lower leaves, leaving 2 to 3 leaves, and insert them directly into the soil.

Summer cuttings are done from mid-June to mid-July, and autumn cuttings are done from late August to late September. Choose branches grown in the current year with internodes at the base of the cuttings. Shade the cuttings after cuttings, and they will take root after 45 to 60 days.

Layering propagation of Daphne koreana

The layering propagation of Osmanthus fragrans is carried out in March and April when new buds sprout.

Choose 1-2 year old strong branches, make a 1-2 cm ring bark, then wrap the cut with a plastic bag, press it into the soil, and insert some small holes in the plastic bag to facilitate air circulation and watering. It will take 1-2 months to take root. After rooting, separate the branches from the mother plant and plant them in pots.

Well, this is the introduction to the propagation method of Daphne odora. Daphne odora will only bloom in winter. Now there are only lonely leaves left, which inevitably looks a bit lonely. Follow the above method to create a little companion for your little Daphne odora in your home!
