Identification methods of spatholobus species

Spathiphyllum truncatum

The main difference between this species and the yellow-flowered sedge is the rosette shape. Margin of cartilaginous appendage at apex of basal leaves not thorny. The flowers are light yellow, and the racemes are long and dense.

Wolf claw pine

The wolf's claw pine is named because its rosette leaves are oblong-lanceolate with a cartilaginous appendage at the tip, just like a wolf's claw!

The flower stem is unbranched and can reach 35 cm in height. The stem leaves are alternate, linear or lanceolate-linear, the raceme is cylindrical, the bracts are linear to linear-lanceolate, and the sepals are narrowly oblong-lanceolate.

The petals are white, oblong-lanceolate, the scales are nearly square, the seeds are brown linear-oblong, and it blooms and bears fruit from September to September.

Late red sedge

The late red ash tree is named because its leaves turn red under light conditions. The leaves are short and densely internoded, and the plant shape is compact. Under the sunlight, the leaves turn from emerald green to red, and under high temperature and strong light, they even turn into iron red or dark purple.

Spathiphyllum

The blunt-leaved pine is named "blunt-leaved pine" because its rosette leaves have no thorns at the tip and are blunt or short and acuminate at the tip.

Marginal sphaerocarpus

Marginal pine, with brown, narrow crescent-shaped margins on the upper part, obtuse or rounded apex, entire margin, sometimes with micro-nipple-like projections, cauline leaves alternate or lower leaves opposite, oblong, acute.

Pagoda Flower

The rosette leaves of the tower-flowered osmanthus are linear, white, with cartilaginous edges. The flower stems and leaves are linear and upright, up to 30 cm high. The inflorescence is narrow pyramidal in appearance, and the bracts are borne in the middle of the pedicel.

Little Wassop

The rosette leaves of the small stonecrop are densely grown, oblong-lanceolate to spoon-shaped, the flower stalk can be up to centimeters high, the leaves are ovate-lanceolate, the inflorescence is spike-shaped or cylindrical, the flowers are densely grown, and the bracts are oblong-lanceolate with purple spots.

Sepals are lanceolate to ovate, petals are red or light pink, lanceolate or oblong-lanceolate, and scales are nearly square.

Scutellaria stenoptera

The roots of the narrow-spiked cycas revoluta are short and whisker-like. The flower stems are slanted upward, curved, and thin. Hairy or hairless.

Basal leaves are rosette-shaped, densely grown, oblanceolate to oblong, and stem leaves are alternate, oblanceolate to obovate, 6-15 mm long, with a few teeth or acuminate at the apex, sparsely hairy or glabrous.

Pinus scoparia

In the first year of the plant, there is a rosette of light green, linear-oblong leaves. In the second year, a flower stalk extends from the center of the rosette and can reach 20 cm in height. The stem leaves are more or less separate and have cartilaginous tips.

The inflorescence is racemose, with bracts ovate-oblong, sepals triangular-ovate, petals white or light red, oblong, scales nearly square to nearly rectangular, and follicles erect.

The types of stonecrop are easy to identify. Just look at its appearance and then associate it with the name, and you can easily distinguish it. "As the name suggests", when we identify the stonecrop, we can "look at the shape and think of the name", look at the appearance and associate it with the name!
