Cultivation methods and precautions of juniper bonsai

Cultivation methods and precautions of juniper bonsai

1. Maintenance methods

1. Temperature: It does not require high maintenance temperature and can grow normally above 15 degrees. However, because it is not cold-resistant, it needs to be brought indoors for the winter and avoid wintering outdoors.

2. Watering: It needs to grow in moist soil, but because it is not resistant to waterlogging, make sure there is no water accumulation in the soil every time you water it. When the temperature is above 30 degrees, in addition to watering the soil, you also need to water the crown of the plant to keep it moist.

3. Fertilization: The consumption of nutrients is relatively high during the growth period, so a thin layer of fertilizer is needed once a month. You can choose farmyard manure, fermented manure, or you can use compound fertilizers with more comprehensive nutrients.

4. Light: Except for summer, it must be kept in a place with sufficient light in other seasons. In summer, appropriate shading is needed.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Repotting: Generally, it needs to be repotted every two to three years. The new pot should be slightly larger than the previous one. When matching the soil, choose soil with sufficient nutrients and good drainage. The time for repotting can be chosen in spring, when its vitality is strongest and the success rate is higher. When repotting, the roots should be properly trimmed and any problematic roots should be cut off.

2. Pruning: Prune it at a fixed time every day. If you find a protruding crown or branches growing too vigorously, you need to prune. The purpose is to keep the plant in a better and more transparent shape.

3. Problem Diagnosis

1. Pests: In hot and dry weather, the plants are susceptible to attack by red spider mites, which will eat the tender leaves of the plants and spread diseases, which is detrimental to the growth of the plants. If found, use Belba wettable powder for spraying and treatment.

2. Root rot: If the plant suffers from root rot, it is mostly caused by excessive watering. It is necessary to temporarily control the water and start watering it again after the soil is completely dry.

IV. Other issues

1. Edibility: It is an ornamental plant and is not edible.

2. Toxicity: It is not poisonous, but its juice can easily cause allergies in people with allergies. Therefore, during the maintenance process, if you accidentally get contaminated with the juice, you need to wash it with soapy water in time. If redness, swelling or itching occurs on the skin, seek medical attention in time.
