Cultivation methods and precautions of Rhododendron splendidum

Cultivation methods and precautions of Rhododendron splendidum

1. Soil

The requirements for the Splendid Rhododendron are relatively high, and many factors need to be considered when choosing. The first is the requirements of being nutrient-rich, loose, and well-drained, as well as the pH requirements, preferably acidic soil. Specifically, it can be prepared with humus, sandy soil, sawdust and other materials to meet a variety of requirements. If you feel that the nutrients in it may be insufficient, you can add some basal fertilizer.

2. Watering

When watering the Rhododendron splendidum, it is necessary to adjust the watering according to the time. March to June is its vigorous growth period, and the amount of watering needs to be increased slowly. From July to September, because the temperature is relatively high, it is best to replenish it with water every day. It can be gradually reduced from October. From November to February of the following year, water control needs to be strictly enforced.

3. Fertilization

First of all, when repotting, you can mix some base fertilizer into the soil. At other times, use in moderation. From spring to flowering, apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizers once or twice a month. In autumn, phosphorus fertilizer is mainly used. Control fertilizer in winter.

4. Temperature

Rhododendron likes warmth, and it is best to keep it between 22 and 24 degrees. Too high or too low is not suitable for its growth.

5. Lighting

Gentle diffuse light is best for the splendid azalea. During its growth period, it should be exposed to as much diffuse light as possible. In summer, try to avoid direct sunlight and place it in a cooler place.
