1. Difference of blades

The leaves of golden buckwheat are triangular, about 4-12 cm long and 3-11 cm wide, with a gradually pointed top, entire edges, and nipple-like protrusions or soft hairs on both sides. Stipules are sheath-tube-shaped and brown.

Buckwheat leaves are triangular or ovate-triangular, and are smaller overall than the former. It is about 2.5-7 cm long and 2-5 cm wide, and its stipules are short tubular.

2. The difference between flowers

Fagopyrum serrata has an umbel-shaped inflorescence, with ovate-lanceolate bracts, and the pedicels and bracts are almost the same length. The perianth has 5 deep lobes, is white in color and is oblong in shape.

Buckwheat's inflorescence is umbellate or racemose, and its bracts are oval and green. Pedicels longer than bracts. The perianth is white or light pink and oval in shape.

3. Fruit Difference

Golden buckwheat is broadly oval and dark brown in color.
