Cultivation methods and precautions of dog flower

1. Lighting

We all know that it often grows in wasteland, so it can be seen that it is more suitable for open-air breeding. When raising it, light is very important. But although it is a very light-loving plant, it cannot tolerate strong light and western exposure. If the light is too strong or it is exposed to western sunlight, the plant will easily be burned. So be sure to pay attention to this when it is enjoying the light.

Generally when planting it, we try to plant it in an environment where the light is blocked from the side, but we cannot plant it in the shade or under a big tree. Although this blocks the strong light, it is easy for it to grow poorly, so that when it grows up, the tree is smaller, the branches and leaves are sparse, and the leaves become dull, and it may not even bloom in the future, so the light must be regulated well.

2. Temperature

The dog flower is actually quite tolerant to cold. Generally, it will not be frozen to death even in a low temperature environment of minus 20 degrees Celsius. Although it is relatively resistant to low temperatures, it should not be planted in a ventilated place when growing it, otherwise it will easily develop shoots. It can also help it survive the winter when the temperature is lower.

3. Soil

The dog flower generally prefers fertile, moist and well-drained slightly acidic soil, so when growing it, try to choose soil that meets this requirement, so that you can grow it better. It can also adapt to slightly alkaline soils.

4. Moisture

Anyone who knows about it knows that its roots are fleshy, so it is very afraid of waterlogging. Therefore, we need to control the water when raising it. When watering it, we must be moderate and keep the soil slightly moist.

5. Choose the right time for transplantation

Because it is very intolerant to transplantation, if we want to transplant it while we are growing it, we need to choose the right time. Generally, it is best to transplant it 10 to 15 days before it sprouts or when the flowers have just fallen and the leaves have not yet unfolded. In addition, 4 to 5 days before transplanting, it should be watered thoroughly. This will allow the plant to fully absorb water and make it easier to survive after transplanting.
