Five things to pay attention to when growing African violets in pots

The size of the African violet potted flowerpot should be moderate

When growing African violets, choosing a flowerpot is very important, and the size must be appropriate. African violet itself is a relatively short plant with an underdeveloped root system. So when choosing a flower pot, just choose the appropriate one according to the plant.

Choose the right soil for African violets

When growing African violets, the soil you choose must meet the growth needs of African violets. It prefers loose, fertile, slightly acidic soil, so you can choose this type of soil when planting African violets in pots. Generally, it is mixed with leaf mold, sand or peat soil.

African violets need appropriate lighting

When growing African violets, it is worth noting that they like plenty of light, but avoid direct sunlight, because direct light can easily burn the leaves of African violets, causing them to turn yellow or even wither. However, light cannot be lacking. Too little light will affect the growth of African violets, causing them to bloom less, and hawthorns to only grow leaves but no flowers.

African violets should be watered in moderation

When growing African violets, you must meet their needs for water, but you must water them in moderation and not too much. Too much water will cause water accumulation in the pot of the African violet, causing its roots to rot. At the same time, do not water the leaves when watering, as this will cause the leaves to rot.

African violets should be fertilized thinly

When growing African violets, do not apply too much fertilizer. Generally, apply thin liquid fertilizer once every 10 days or so. When choosing fertilizers, it is generally recommended to choose fertilizers with relatively uniform nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium elements. Be careful not to apply nitrogen fertilizers too heavily. You can add phosphorus and potassium fertilizers during flowering. In summer, when the temperature is high, you can stop fertilizing and resume fertilizing after the temperature drops.
