How to grow Staghorn Begonia

temperature

Staghorn begonia likes warmth, and the suitable temperature for its growth is 18-24℃. It is not cold-resistant and the wintering temperature should be above 5℃. It is not resistant to high temperatures and will enter a dormant state during high temperatures in summer.

illumination

Staghorn Begonia needs plenty of sunlight, but not excessive exposure to the sun. It needs appropriate shade during the high temperatures in summer, or the plant can be moved directly to a place with sufficient scattered light in summer. In the other three seasons, you can just place it in the sun and take care of it normally.

Watering

Because the fleshy leaves of Staghorn Begonia can store water, it is more resistant to drought. It likes a moist but slightly dry soil environment. Do not water it too much. It is better to keep the soil in the pot moist but slightly dry. When it is semi-dormant in summer and the temperature is low in winter, watering should be more restrained. Just spray some water on the potted plants and keep the soil slightly moist.

Staghorn Begonia likes a humid environment. During its growth period, you should spray water on the plant and the surrounding environment to maintain a humid environment.

Fertilization

After the Staghorn Begonia resumes growth in spring, apply fertilizer once every half month, and nitrogen fertilizer should be the main fertilizer. In late autumn and early winter, the Staghorn Begonia begins to grow vigorously again and enters the flowering period. Fertilization should be mainly phosphorus and potassium to facilitate the plant's flowering and improve its cold resistance. Fertilization should be stopped during the summer semi-dormant period and the winter low temperatures.
