Air plants only bloom once in their lifetime

Air plants only bloom once in their lifetime

Flowering period of air plants

The normal flowering period of air plants is in late autumn or early spring, but there is no specific time for indoor plants. They can bloom as long as the environment is suitable. The flowers basically last for 2 to 3 weeks, and a plant only blooms once in its lifetime.

Will the air plant die after flowering?

Yes, but it will not die immediately. It will grow for 1 to 2 years after flowering. But everyone can take this opportunity to reproduce.

When the flowers of the air plant begin to wither, it is recommended to cut off the withered flower stalks so that more seedlings will be produced. When the seedlings begin to sprout, the leaves at the bottom of the plant will begin to loosen and appear withered. Do not cut off the leaves at this time, because these are the locations of the buds of the seedlings. When the seedlings grow up, they can be divided and the mother plant can rest.

Air plant division after flowering

Division is usually carried out after the mother plant of the air plant dies. Cut off the withered leaves on the mother plant, and then gently break off the branch seedlings with your hands, which requires little effort. Don't throw away the mother plant immediately. The gradually withering air plant may produce more seedlings.
