The best way to prevent sheep from ruminating

When raising sheep, we often encounter situations where sheep overeat and have indigestion, which leads to the inability to ruminate, which has a great impact on the health of the sheep. Let’s learn about the best way to prevent sheep from ruminating due to food accumulation.

1. Cooling

If a sheep does not ruminate, the first thing to do is to take its temperature to see if it has a fever or hypothermia. The normal body temperature of a fattening sheep is between 38.5° and 39.5°, the normal body temperature of an ewes is between 38.5° and 39 degrees, and the normal body temperature of a lamb is between 39° and 39.5°. If the sheep's body temperature is higher than the normal range and it has a fever, we can inject the sheep with: long-acting cephalosporin suspension, and at the same time use the: Qingwen Taibao + carbaspirin calcium soluble powder to reduce fever and inflammation.

2. Regulate the stomach

If sheep have indigestion and do not ruminate, you should first determine whether the bloating is caused by bloating or indigestion. Do not treat it blindly. Generally speaking, the symptom of bloating is that the stomach is empty and full of gas. If there is indigestion, you can clearly feel that there is undigested grass in the sheep's stomach.

If the sheep has bloating, you can give them Xiaozhang Taibao orally. This is relatively simple and can help the sheep expel the gas in the rumen quickly. If the sheep has indigestion, we can give it the medicine Jishi Taibao, which can solve the problems of indigestion and constipation in sheep at the same time.

3. Rumen inflation

There are many possible reasons why sheep do not eat grass or ruminate. Stand behind the sheep's buttocks and touch its left abdomen carefully. Compare it with that of a healthy sheep. If it is empty like a ball and makes a thumping sound when you tap it, it means the rumen is bloated. If this is the case, you can feed the baby 20 stomach-strengthening and digestion-promoting tablets, 1 liang of baking soda, and 3 liang (half a pound) of vegetable oil.

4. Nutritional supplement

If the sheep does not ruminate, it is necessary to observe whether the sheep has eaten foreign objects such as plastic and soil. These things entering the sheep's stomach will also cause them to not ruminate. The reason why sheep develop pica is that their bodies lack some trace elements, so we need to supplement the sheep with nutrition to solve the problem of not ruminating. You can give the sheep Multivitamin, which contains a variety of vitamins and trace elements needed by the sheep's body, diluted with water and fed to the sheep.

5. Exercise appropriately

If the sheep do not ruminate and have no appetite, and if it is found that the sheep have neither fever nor pica and rumen problems, then you can let the sheep exercise appropriately, drive the sheep to an open area and let them exercise on their own. In addition, the sheep should be fasted for 24 to 48 hours, so that the sheep can regulate themselves well and restore their appetite and rumination.
