How to grow Chinese cabbage?

1. Site selection and land preparation

Choose fertile, deep, loose, breathable, well-drained, sunny and ventilated sandy loam to grow Chinese cabbage. Before sowing or planting, deep plow the land, apply 1500-2000 kg of decomposed farmyard manure per mu, prepare the land and make beds with a width of 100-130 cm.

2. Seed treatment

Choose seeds that are free of pests and diseases and have full grains, and dry and disinfect them before sowing to reduce the occurrence of pests and diseases.

3. Sowing time

Chinese cabbage has good adaptability and strong cold resistance. It can be planted all year round under protected conditions. But it is generally suitable to be planted in spring and autumn when the temperature is suitable and the climatic conditions are good.

4. Sowing method

It can be sown directly or transplanted. When sowing directly, spread the seeds evenly on the soil surface, then cover with a thin layer of soil, compact lightly and water thoroughly to accelerate the emergence of seedlings; when raising seedlings and transplanting, you can choose to build a seedbed in a place with convenient water source, good drainage and shade. The bed soil should be fertile and loose, and retain water and fertilizer. Apply 1,000 kg of well-rotted high-quality farmyard manure per acre, turn the soil over and rake it finely to make a seedbed. The seed amount used per 667 square meters is 50-100 grams.

5. Water and fertilizer management

During the growth and development of Chinese cabbage, water it regularly when the field is dry to keep the soil moist. In addition, apply 15-20 kg of urea per mu each time to meet the nutrient needs of the seedling growth and development.

5. Harvesting points

When harvesting, choose sunny weather and use a sharp knife to cut the cabbage from the roots to avoid damaging the leaves and roots. After harvesting, the Chinese cabbage should be cleaned and sorted before being put on the market for sale.

In general, there is no uniform standard for how many times pakchoy can be planted in a year. Usually, the different natural conditions such as climate and soil in different regions, as well as differences in planting techniques and management levels, will affect the crop rotation and yield of pakchoy. Growers should adjust and optimize according to actual conditions.
