What to do if the bear's paw drops its leaves

Why do leaves fall?

It is normal to lose leaves in summer

The growing season of Bear's Paw should be from mid-autumn to mid-spring, when the leaves of Bear's Paw are thick and full. But Bear's Paw is a plant of the Crassulaceae family, which means it will enter a short dormant state in summer, and many Sedums are like this. How can it grow if it is dormant? Don't touch it at this time. The roots will stop growing during the dormant period, the leaves will become wilted, and will slowly fall off.

Too much watering

One is excessive watering during the dormant period, and the other is excessive watering and water accumulation during the growing period.

During the dormant period, Bear's Paw basically does not grow and does not need too much water. If you do not control watering at this time and the soil in the pot is moist, the roots and rhizomes of Bear's Paw will easily rot, causing the leaves to fall off.

At other times of the growth period, excessive watering can also cause root rot and even excessive growth. The long stems and leaflets will not get enough nutrients, and yellowing, wilting and falling off are inevitable.

What to do after the leaves

Dormant period maintenance

If the bear's paw is in a dormant period, don't be alarmed; it is normal for leaves to fall off. Don't touch the leaves casually. Under normal circumstances, the leaves will just wilt a little if you don't touch them. Control watering and ventilate in time. After the summer, the leaves will slowly recover and no excessive operation is required.

Soil loosening and ventilation

If overwatering causes leaves to fall off, be careful and try to reduce watering as much as possible. Except for the dormant period, the moisture in the soil can be reduced by ventilation, sunlight and loosening the soil. If the bear's paw wilts severely, you can remove the plant from the pot, dry the roots to allow some of the water in the soil to dissipate, and then replant it.
