What to do if the spider plant has root rot

What to do if the spider plant has root rot

Initial maintenance

Reduce watering

If the roots of spider plants are slightly rotten, it means that they have been overwatered and the soil is too moist. At this time, you need to take good care of it to restore it. Gradually reduce the frequency of watering from twice a day to once a day or once every two days, gradually improving the moisture content of the soil.

Get more sun

As soon as there are signs of root rot, move the plant outside to get some sunlight, but don't expose it to the sun for long periods of time. Sufficient light can accelerate water evaporation, improve the humidity of the potting soil, and is beneficial to the healthy growth of the plant. Root rot will gradually improve.

Supplement nutrient solution

If watering and sun exposure do not alleviate the root symptoms, you can try using some plant nutrient solution. Don't use too much. Follow the instructions and dilute it according to the proportion before spraying on the leaves.

Treatment in severe cases

Remove rotten roots

If the root rot is severe, remove it. First disinfect the knife, then cut off the rotten roots and throw them away, apply rooting agent on the remaining roots, replace the soil with new one, and new roots will grow soon.

Repotting

There is usually not just one plant, but several plants growing together. If some roots are still intact, you can directly repot the intact plants. Just throw away the rotten parts!

Transplant and replant

If the roots are completely rotten, the hope of regeneration is a little slim, but it can still be saved by timely transplantation. Cut off the small plants on the stem of the plant and plant them directly in the culture soil or water. Once they take root, you can plant them!
