What to do if the leaves of the peace lily turn yellow and fall off

What to do if the leaves of the peace lily turn yellow and fall off

1. Suitable lighting

Reason: Although it has a certain degree of shade tolerance, if it is not exposed to light for a long time, the leaves will turn yellow due to lack of light. Of course, it cannot be placed in direct sunlight, as strong light will burn the leaves, especially the tender leaves, which will turn yellow and fall off.

Solution: If the plant is sunburned due to excessive sunlight, move it to a semi-shaded place as soon as possible, and sprinkle more water around it to cool it down and help it recover as soon as possible. If it is caused by lack of light, move it to a place with sufficient scattered light and let it get more sun, and it will recover soon.

2. Watering in moderation

Reason: If you water the plant frequently during maintenance, it will be difficult for the roots to absorb all the water, which will hinder the normal breathing of the roots and cause root rot over time. There cannot be a lack of water either. If the soil is dry and not replenished with water in time, the leaves will turn yellow due to drought.

Solution: If you water too much, stop watering first, move the plant to a better ventilated place, loosen the soil, and let the water evaporate. If there is a lack of water or drought, you need to replenish water as soon as possible. Water in small amounts first, let it settle for a while, and then water thoroughly.

3. Suitable temperature

Reason: It has poor cold resistance and the temperature in winter is low. If the temperature is not controlled in time and a suitable temperature environment is not provided, the plant will be frostbitten and yellow and dry leaves will appear.

Solution: If it is frostbitten, move it to a warm place indoors as soon as possible. Be careful to slowly increase the temperature to allow it to recover slowly.
