How to get a high survival rate of cuttings of the single tree, other propagation methods

How to get a high survival rate of cuttings of the single tree, other propagation methods

1. Cutting method

1. Time: The cuttings of the Chinese parviflora can be carried out all year round as long as the temperature is suitable. If you want to increase the survival rate of cuttings, it is best to choose May to June each year for cuttings. This period is very warm and the climate is very suitable. It is also a period of vigorous growth and budding, so the survival rate can be guaranteed.

2. Cut branches: Choose a well-growing shrub and cut thick and full branches from the top of the plant. Make sure there are two stem segments on the branches and the length should be about 8-10 cm. The cut leaves cannot be used directly for cuttings. The cut surface needs to be smeared with grass lime and then placed aside to dry.

3. Prepare sandy soil: The sandy soil used for cuttings can be yellow sand, perlite, vermiculite, etc. This kind of matrix has good air permeability and drainage, is easier to take root, and can also help subsequent growth.

4. Carry out cuttings: After all these are prepared, you can carry out cuttings. Level the soil and insert the branches into it. It does not need to be inserted too deep, just make sure it is firm and not tilted. After cuttings, they should not be exposed to strong light to avoid burns from strong light, which will cause the wound to lose water. Maintain a suitable temperature to promote the rooting of the tree as soon as possible.

2. Other reproduction methods

In addition to cuttings, the loblolly tree can also be propagated by sowing and tissue culture, but these two methods are not commonly used.
