Strawberry is one of the important economic crops and fruits in China. It is very popular both in cultivation and production and in sightseeing gardening. Strawberries have high economic value and good planting prospects. Below, the editor will introduce strawberry planting and management techniques. Let’s take a look. 1. Planting time Strawberry planting and seedling raising are mostly carried out in the following spring, but can also be carried out in July-August of the year when seeds are collected, because strawberries are suitable for growing in an environment with moderate temperature. The temperature begins to warm up in spring, which will accelerate the growth of strawberry seedlings . Planting in spring will be more conducive to the growth of strawberries and their later management. 2. Land preparation and fertilization Strawberries are not afraid of flooding but are afraid of waterlogging, so the drainage construction in the garden must be done well. Before planting, the soil in the entire garden must be plowed and loosened to increase the air permeability of the soil, and 5 tons of decomposed organic fertilizer and 50 kilograms of compound fertilizer must be mixed into the soil. 3. Planting method Strawberries should be planted in fertile, loose, neutral or slightly acidic loam. Soil that is too clay is not suitable for farming. Sandy soil should be treated with more manure and frequent irrigation, and can also be used to grow strawberries. When planting, you can dig a hole about the same depth as the strawberry soil every 45 cm or so. After putting the strawberries in, fill it with soil and you can water them. Note that the water needs to be watered thoroughly. 4. Water and fertilizer management Strawberries have relatively high requirements for water during their growth process. Generally, they need to be watered every 4-6 days during the flowering period, every 2 days or so during the fruit growth and ripening period, and once the fruit is harvested, they need to be watered every 7 days or so. When watering, try to avoid using clear water. You can add an appropriate amount of nitrogen fertilizer for watering. The later stage of fertilization mainly consists of high-nitrogen flushing fertilizer or quick-soluble compound fertilizer. 5. Assisted pollination Poor pollination and fertilization are the root causes of fruit deformation. Using bees to assist pollination can effectively reduce the production of deformed fruits. Typically, during flowering, a box of bees is placed in each shed for pollination. 6. Disease prevention and control During the management of strawberries, once a disease occurs, it will affect the growth of strawberry seedlings. Generally, red spider mites appear on the old leaves in the lower half of the strawberry seedlings. When controlling the disease, you need to pay attention to removing the diseased and yellow leaves, which can effectively reduce the spread of red spider mites. You can also choose to use drugs to control red spider mites. Generally, use 20% dimethyl ether emulsifiable concentrate diluted 1000-1500 times and spray it about once every 5 days. It should be noted that if it is already two days before harvesting, there is no need to spray to avoid pesticide residues on the fruit. The above are the strawberry planting and management techniques. Strawberries should be harvested multiple times to avoid over-ripening. It is not suitable to harvest them when it rains. When picking, you can only hold the fruit stalk and pick it off gently to avoid damaging the fruit.
