Tips for promoting orchid flowering

Tips for promoting orchid flowering

1. Control the temperature

If the temperature can be controlled well during the maintenance and management of orchids, the purpose of promoting flowering can be achieved. Before flowering, the temperature difference between day and night should be controlled at more than 10 degrees, usually between 18 and 21 degrees during the day and between 8 and 10 degrees at night. This way, the flower buds can differentiate better and the number of flowers will increase.

2. Reasonable watering

Pay attention to the amount of watering during the flowering period. If the amount of water is too large, it will cause the branches to grow too long and the flowers will be very small, affecting the viewing experience. At this time, water should be applied when the soil is dry and when it is wet. Do not add water too frequently. It is best to keep the soil moist between 70 and 80 percent, which is conducive to the differentiation of flower buds.

3. Apply fertilizer appropriately

It consumes a lot of nutrients when it blooms. If you want more flowers and better quality flowers, you must ensure that there are enough nutrients. Usually, the amount of phosphorus and potassium should be increased before flowering, or fermented organic fertilizer can be used. If there are sufficient nutrients and the roots absorb them, the flowers will naturally bloom better.

4. Adequate lighting

Light is a necessary factor for the plant to bloom. It must have sufficient light time before and during flowering. It should be placed in a well-lit place and get more sun so that more flowers can bloom. However, when the flower buds are forming, reducing the time they are exposed to light can help the flowers bloom more beautifully.
