How to care for Japanese red maple

How to care for Japanese red maple

1. Lighting

During the maintenance period, it should be exposed to more sunlight. The color of the leaves will be brighter if there is sufficient light, but it cannot be exposed to strong light. The light in summer is very strong, so you should avoid it at this time. Strong light can easily burn the plants and affect their growth. In addition, pay attention to avoiding wind and do not place it in the wind when exposed to sunlight outdoors.

2. Watering

It likes a humid environment, so it needs to be watered frequently during maintenance, especially in summer. When the temperature is high, water is lost quickly, so you need to add more water. When watering, water the leaves but do not let water accumulate in the soil. Move it indoors in time during the rainy season to avoid water accumulation and root rot.

3. Temperature

It has a certain degree of cold resistance, but the temperature still needs to be controlled in winter and should be kept above zero degrees to avoid frostbite. During normal maintenance, it is sufficient to provide normal room temperature. We prefer a temperature environment of around 20 degrees.

4. Fertilization

Do not fertilize too frequently during maintenance, as not much nutrients are needed. Normally, it is enough to apply fertilizer once a month. If there is too much fertilizer, the growth will be accelerated and the plant shape will be affected, making it not so beautiful. Applying potassium fertilizer after September every year can make the leaves brighter.

5. Pests and diseases

During the maintenance period, it is easy to be infected with powdery mildew and some other diseases and pests. When discovered, let it get more air circulation and spray pesticides for prevention and control if necessary to avoid worsening of the disease and affecting its growth.
