Saffron is a very famous flower variety. It has a certain ornamental value, and its medicinal value cannot be ignored. Generally, the stamens of saffron are used as medicine. It is because of this that it attracts many people to plant it. Many people do not know the method and time of planting saffron bulbs when planting saffron. Let's learn about it together. How to plant saffron bulbs1. Select bulbs In spring, the remaining flowers should be removed immediately after flowering to avoid nutrient consumption, and a compound fertilizer solution mainly composed of phosphorus and potassium should be applied once or twice to promote the growth of the bulbs, and normal maintenance should be continued. In summer, when the above-ground part turns yellow, the bulbs should be removed and dried in the shade for storage. 2. Preserve bulbs Cut off the remaining leaves at the top, remove the mother bulb residue, and then move it indoors, grade it by size, and put it on the indoor rack. There is no need to bury it in the soil. Put the bulbs with the buds facing up and place them flat in the rack with a slight gap between the bulbs. 3. Indoor potted plant division In autumn, according to the shape of the bulbs, those with daughter bulbs can be divided. Break them apart directly with your hands and plant them in pots. 4. Maintenance after ball division After dividing the bulbs, increase the indoor air humidity appropriately and keep the soil moist. Promote bulb germination. After mid-August, the temperature drops and generally no cooling measures are needed. The suitable temperature for saffron is 15~18℃. Controlling the indoor temperature after dividing the bulbs can promote flowering. Saffron planting technology and management1. Watering Usually planted in autumn, winter and spring are its growing seasons, the climate is cold and dry, and proper watering is required. Seedlings will emerge about 20 days after planting, and water once before emergence to facilitate emergence. Water the plants once before winter to increase the temperature of the soil. Generally, water the plants once in mid-April to reduce the damage caused by dry hot winds. When watering, be careful not to use ice water when the temperature is low. The water temperature should be the same as the room temperature to prevent the soil from freezing and affecting the growth of the plants. 2. Fertilization Before planting, sufficient base fertilizer should be added to the potting soil, such as cake fertilizer, stable manure, burnt soil, wood ash, chicken and duck manure, etc., and some superphosphate should also be applied. After rooting, you can apply a balanced nitrogen and phosphorus thin liquid fertilizer every 10 days, but we should be careful not to apply too concentrated fertilizer to avoid excessive leaf growth and affecting the growth of flower buds. Generally, during the cultivation process, after flowering in October, you should apply a balanced nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium quick-acting fertilizer once or twice to facilitate the growth and development of the bulbs. |
