Is it profitable to grow loofah?

Nowadays, growing loofah is still relatively profitable, because it can not only be eaten as a vegetable, but also as a medicinal material. Not only is there a large domestic demand for it, but it is also exported overseas in large quantities every year. The prospects for its cultivation are very broad.

Profits and benefits of growing loofah

The yield of loofah per mu can reach about 6,000 jin, and its market price is 2-3 yuan per jin, while the cost per mu is about 2,000 yuan. After deducting the cost, the net profit per mu can be as high as about 20,000 yuan, which is very considerable.

High-yield cultivation techniques for loofah

1. Variety selection

If you want a high yield of loofah, it is best to choose high-quality, high-yield, and resistant varieties for planting. Recommended ones include Shuangqing, Bilu, and Luwang.

2. Land preparation and sowing

Before planting loofah, the land should be prepared into deep furrows and high ridges. You can adopt the hole sowing method, placing 3-4 seeds in each hole. Soak the seeds in warm water for a few hours before sowing, which is conducive to seed germination.

3. Fertilizer and water management

If you want to get high yields of loofah, you need to do a good job of fertilizer and water management, apply heavy topdressing during the flowering period, and apply an appropriate amount of compound fertilizer per acre of land, but do not apply too much water.
