Wheat Introduction

Wheat is a plant of the Poaceae family. It is grown all over the world and is one of the staple foods. It can be processed into bread, steamed buns, biscuits, noodles and other foods. After fermentation, it can be made into beer, alcohol, liquor, or biomass fuel.

Wheat is also known as bran wheat, floating wheat, floating wheat, empty wheat, soft grain wheat, and wheat. The main varieties of wheat include Yumai No. 7, Miannong No. 6, Yangmai No. 12, Jimai No. 38, and Lumai No. 15.

Wheat growing conditions

Wheat is a long-day crop and requires 8-12 hours of sunlight per day. If the sunlight conditions are insufficient, it will be difficult to pass the light stage and the fruit setting rate will be reduced. The light stage of wheat comes after the vernalization stage.

Wheat Planting Climate and Temperature

The temperature should not be too high when sowing wheat, but if the temperature is too low, it will also be unfavorable for the later growth of wheat. Under normal circumstances, the daily average temperature between 16-18 degrees is most suitable for sowing, and the survival rate is very high.

Suitable areas for wheat cultivation

The suitable areas for growing wheat are mainly distributed in Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Linxia, Gansu, Gannan Autonomous Prefecture, Hexi Corridor, Xinjiang, Qinghai, Tibet and other regions. It has strong adaptability to the environment and is distributed in areas with an altitude of about 2,500 to 4,500 meters. It can be planted in humid and semi-humid areas to semi-arid and arid areas.

Wheat planting time

Winter wheat is generally sown in September and October each year and harvested in April and May of the following year. Spring wheat is mainly sown after the Spring Festival and harvested in August and September of the same year.

Wheat Planting Benefits

Generally speaking, the sales price of strong-gluten high-quality wheat is 10-20 yuan higher than the price of ordinary wheat in the same period. At the end of 2005, Henan Province ranked first in the country in terms of the planting area of high-quality special wheat. If the income of one acre of high-quality wheat is 40 yuan higher than that of ordinary wheat, the farmers in the province can increase their income by nearly 2 billion yuan a year.
