Can kiwi fruit be grown in Guangxi?

Guangxi is very suitable for growing kiwi fruit. Guangxi is located at low latitudes and belongs to the subtropical monsoon climate zone. It is warm and humid all year round, with abundant rainfall and sufficient sunlight, which is very suitable for the growth of kiwi fruit, a fruit that likes warm and humid conditions.

Kiwi fruit grows in a cool and humid environment with an average annual temperature between 11.3 and 16.9 degrees. In my country, kiwi fruit is widely distributed, including Shaanxi, Gansu and Henan in the north, Guangdong, Guangxi and Fujian in the south, Guizhou, Yunnan, Sichuan in the southwest, and various provinces in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, especially in the Yangtze River basin.

Planting technology of kiwi fruit in Guangxi

1. Lighting

Although kiwi fruit likes light, it cannot be exposed to direct sunlight. When planting, you can choose a riverside or a semi-shaded slope, which can not only diffuse light well but also ensure that the kiwi fruit seedlings have enough light, providing an excellent lighting environment for the kiwi fruit seedlings.

2. Temperature

The best place to grow kiwifruit is in subtropical or temperate humid and semi-humid areas, with an average annual temperature of 11.3-16.9°C and an effective accumulated temperature of ≥10°C of 4500-5200°C.

3. Watering

It likes water but is afraid of waterlogging. The main reason is that kiwifruit is a broad-leaved fruit tree. Especially in summer, the leaf transpiration is very strong and the water demand is relatively large. Therefore, in June, July and August, the soil moisture content should be maintained at 70%, which is ideal. However, kiwifruit has fleshy roots with strong respiration, so it needs a higher oxygen content in the soil.

4. Soil

When planting kiwifruit, it is best to choose slightly acidic sandy soil that is fertile and loose, has good air permeability and is rich in organic matter. The groundwater level should be below 1m. If it is a strongly acidic or alkaline soil, it needs to be improved before planting fruit trees.
