Environmental conditions and requirements for bamboo growth

Moso bamboo is mostly distributed in provinces south of the Yangtze River Basin in my country. It is a shallow-rooted plant with relatively high requirements for water and temperature. It prefers a growing environment with abundant rainfall and stable heat. When planting, you can choose valleys, foothills, mountainsides and other areas that are sheltered from the south.

Bamboo growth temperature

The most suitable growth temperature for bamboo is 12-22℃. The plant likes a warm environment. Too high or too low temperature will cause poor growth of bamboo. The plant has good cold resistance and can withstand temperatures of -20℃.

Bamboo growth humidity

Moso bamboo prefers a humid growing environment, with an air humidity of 65%-82% being best. It should generally be watered every 1-2 days to keep the soil moist but without stagnant water. When the air is dry, it should also be sprayed with water to keep it moist.

Bamboo growing soil

Moso bamboo prefers loose, breathable, slightly acidic soil rich in organic matter. When caring for it, you can buy special soil, or you can mix garden soil, leaf mold, and river sand.

Growth cycle and process of bamboo

The growth of bamboo is a kind of asexual reproduction and vegetative growth. One cycle is about 60 years. The growth of the plant is divided into four stages: seedling emergence, leaf growth, flowering and fruiting, and withering and death. The average lifespan is about 60 years.
