How to grow Jiuzhuanhua at home

Nine-turn flower growth conditions

The nine-turn flower likes a warm and humid environment, a semi-shaded environment, and does not require much light. It is suitable for growing in fertile, well-drained acidic soil. The pH of the soil has a great influence on its flower color. When the soil is acidic, the flowers are blue, and if the soil is alkaline, its flowers are red.

How to grow Jiuzhuanhua

It is better to use acidic soil when cultivating Jiuzhuanhua. Jiuzhuanhua likes fertilizer. During the growth period, you can apply decomposed thin cake fertilizer water once every 15 days. In addition, if you want to maintain the acidity of the soil, you can add ferrous sulfate to the fertilizer solution and apply it.

Watering the Jiuzhuan Flower

Generally, the nine-turn flower needs to be watered 1 to 2 times a day in spring and summer to ensure that the soil of the plant is moist. In autumn and winter, it only needs to be watered once every 10 to 15 days.

Fertilization of Jiuzhuanhua

During the growing season, the nine-turn flower needs to be fertilized once every half a month. Before flowering, you can also apply fertilizer containing superphosphate 1 to 2 times to promote more and brighter flowers.

Pest and disease control of Jiuzhuanhua

The more common diseases of the Chinese holly are powdery mildew and leaf spot. After being attacked, it should be sprayed with wettable powder of mancozeb. The common insect pest is aphid, which can generally be controlled by spraying with omethoate emulsion.

How to grow Jiuzhuanhua at home

1. When cultivating the Chinese wolfberry at home, it is best to choose a slightly acidic soil with good drainage and rich nutrients for cultivation, provide it with an environment with sufficient light, and pinch the tops of the plants during the growing period.

2. In addition, during the growth period of Jiuzhuanhua, fertilizer should be applied every 15 days, and superphosphate should be applied 1 to 2 times during the bud formation period to promote flowering. In spring and summer, water it 1-2 times a day, and in autumn and winter, water it once every 10-15 days.

Precautions for the maintenance of Jiuzhuanhua

1. During the growth period of Jiuzhuanhua, when the new branches grow to 10-15cm, in order to promote the growth of the plant's side branches, the tops of the branches need to be cut off in time. When the side branches grow to 8-10cm, the tops of the side branches need to be cut off. This is conducive to the growth of the plant's shape to be straight and uniform and suitable for viewing.

2. After entering winter, the Jiuzhuan flower should be kept indoors and the temperature should be controlled above 5℃ so that it can survive the winter safely. Reduce the amount of watering in winter to avoid root rot.
