How to prune lucky bamboo

How to prune lucky bamboo

1. Prune yellow leaves

During its growth process, yellow leaves sometimes appear. Although it does not need to be pruned, in order to maintain its beautiful appearance, you can pick off the yellow leaves by hand or cut them off with pruning tools. Similarly, if its branches turn yellow and dry, you can directly cut off the whole branch.

2. Pruning roots

1. Choose the right time for pruning

Before pruning the roots, you need to choose a time with good weather and prepare the relevant tools for pruning.

2. Take out the lucky bamboo

First move the vase to a suitable location, and then slowly take it out of the water. If there are too many roots and it is difficult to take it out at once, you can pour out some of the water, and then use some tools to take it out, but be careful not to damage the roots too much.

3. Trim roots

After taking it out, observe its roots. If you find rotten roots, old roots, or roots that are not growing well, cut them off. In addition, we can also prune it according to its growth needs, but when pruning, we must remember that the roots must have a tender white epidermis.

4. Maintenance after pruning

After pruning, you can wash the roots with water and then put them in a bottle with culture solution. Of course, if you are worried about the roots you have just pruned, you can soak them in potassium permanganate for 30 minutes and then sprinkle some rooting powder into the bottle. You can then change the water every three days, and put some charcoal in it after a week to prevent the roots from rotting. And remember not to move the direction of the vase within half a month, which will be conducive to the growth of new roots.
