Seed collection

If you want to grow beautiful purple flowers, choosing the right seeds is the key. Defective seeds may not only grow slowly, but may also develop into deformed plants, affecting the ornamental value of the potted plants.

If you want to get high-quality seeds, you must collect the seeds in time and store them properly.

The purple lily blooms in summer, and its capsules are ripe in autumn, so you can start collecting seeds. Wait until the capsule cracks open, pick it and take out the seeds.

If you are sowing indoors, you can sow whenever the temperature is guaranteed. Otherwise, it is best to store the seeds until the beginning of spring of the following year before sowing.

The storage method can be sand storage. First, the seeds are screened to remove deformed or damaged seeds. Then immerse it in wet sand and store it at a temperature of about 5°C.

Soil selection

Purple lilies can grow more vigorously in relatively fertile planting soil, which requires us to try to choose planting soil with sufficient fertility and high nutritional content when choosing planting soil for it.

In addition, it is afraid of waterlogging, so when choosing soil, you should choose planting soil that will not accumulate water. If water accumulates in the soil, it is likely to cause the roots and bulbs of the purple lily plant to rot, leading to poor growth and development of the plant.

Planting method

First, pour the prepared planting soil into the flowerpot. At this time, be careful not to pour too full. The height of the planting soil should reach 85% of the height of the flowerpot.

Then prepare a large basin and pour in clean water. Immerse the bottom of the pot with planting soil in water. Allow clean water to slowly seep into the planting soil through the drainage holes at the bottom of the flowerpot. Pay attention to the soil surface and take out the flowerpot in time when it changes color. Do not let too much water in, otherwise it will affect the normal germination of the seeds.

Then sow the seeds evenly on the surface of the planting soil, and then cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil.

Then place the flower pot in a relatively dark room and water it in time, and it will sprout soon.
