Cultivation methods and precautions of large-leaf umbrella

Farming methods

Sunlight

The umbrella plant likes plenty of sunlight, but it still needs to avoid the sunlight around noon from May to September, otherwise it will cause the leaves to lose their luster, and in severe cases, the leaves will turn yellow and fall off.

Watering

The large-leaf umbrella should maintain sufficient water during its growing period, and the soil should be kept moist, especially in summer. Sufficient water is necessary during the most vigorous growing season, but the soil should not be too moist, as this will cause the leaves of the plant to lose vitality, and in severe cases will cause the leaves to fall off or the roots to rot. In winter, you should reduce watering appropriately and keep the soil dry.

Fertilization

During the growing period of the umbrella plant, fertilizer can be applied once to twice a month. Nitrogen fertilizer can be used, which can make the plant grow quickly and make its leaves dark green and bright. In autumn, you should switch to a fertilizer with a higher potassium content, which can enhance the plant's adaptability to colder weather. Stop fertilizing in winter.

temperature

The most suitable growth temperature for the umbrella plant is 20 to 30 degrees. Excessively high temperatures in summer and temperatures below 5 degrees in winter are very unfavorable to the growth of the plant. It is best to grow it indoors in winter, and the optimal temperature is 18 to 20 degrees.

Precautions

Do not move the plant from too much shade into direct sunlight, as this can easily damage the leaves.

When the temperature is too low in winter, the leaves will easily fall off.
