How to propagate Chinese toon

How to propagate Chinese toon

Method 1: Seed propagation

In order to ensure the same fertility, reproduction by seeds is the most appropriate method, and this method is also the most common. The taproot of Chinese toon propagated by seeds is very obvious, but the growth is not very vigorous. In sowing. You need to soak the seeds in warm water at 20 to 30 degrees for about 12 hours, then take out the seeds, rinse them with clean water, and put them in a bag for germination. The germination temperature should be around 25 degrees. You can sow the seeds after they germinate. It is best to sow them between April and May. You can also transplant them in autumn and winter if necessary. Please note that root rot may occur during the breeding period.

Method 2: Division propagation

This method requires digging trenches around the crown of the tree, cutting off roots about 1 cm in diameter and then stimulating the growth of plant root buds. When cutting the roots, be careful not to damage the larger root system. After cutting the roots, you can cover them with soil, and you also need to add a certain amount of decomposed organic fertilizer to help the growth and development of the roots and plants. This method can produce about 2 to 3 sprouts per year.

Method 3: Root cutting propagation

The specific method is to remove roots with a diameter of 0.5 to 1 cm, and then cut them into cuttings with a length of between 10 and 15 cm. Cut the relatively thick side flat and face it upwards, and the thinner side needs to be cut diagonally and face downwards. Before cutting the cuttings, they need to be diluted 1000 times with 0.4% butyric acid solution and soaked for half an hour. After soaking, the cuttings should be deeply inserted into the sand bed. The temperature at this time should be between 25 and 30 degrees, and the humidity is recommended to be between 75% and 80%. It is best to cover it with transparent plastic cloth. After germination, it is enough to keep one bud in each ear. If you want to transplant it, you need to wait until the plant grows to about 30 cm.

Method 4: Cutting propagation

This method of propagation is best carried out from April to June. Prune the semi-lignified paper strips grown that year to about 15 cm, and plant the branches in the sand bed. The cuttings also need to be soaked in 1000 times diluted 0.4% butyric acid solution for one hour or half an hour before planting.
