How to water flowers better?

The reason why many people cannot grow flowers well is that they do not water them properly. Mastering the correct watering method can not only promote the healthy growth of flowers , but also extend the viewing period of flowers. So how can we water flowers better? Let’s learn more about it below.

1. Watering principles

(1) Do not water unless the soil is dry: Before watering, check the soil for dryness and wetness. Water only when the soil surface is dry. You can use a toothpick or chopstick to insert into the soil. If it is dry when pulled out, then you need to water it.

(2) Water thoroughly: This means that when watering, make sure to water the bottom of the pot, and the soil below the pot should also be soaked, and water may even flow out from the drainage holes at the bottom of the pot. Generally, you don’t need to water again once the plant is thoroughly watered, otherwise it is easy to miss water and wash away the nutrients in the soil.

2. Watering time

Avoid watering at midday when the sun is at its hottest. The best time to water is usually in the morning or evening, when there is less evaporation and the plants can better absorb water.

3. Watering method

(1) Watering directly on the roots: Avoid pouring water directly on the leaves, especially at night, to reduce the occurrence of diseases. Water directly at the roots to allow the water to penetrate directly into the root system.

(2) Immersion method: For potted flowers, you can place the bottom of the pot in shallow water to allow the soil to slowly absorb water from the bottom, avoiding direct impact of water on the soil surface, which would cause the soil to become compacted.

4. Pay attention to water temperature

Use water that is close to room temperature for watering; water that is too cold or too hot may harm the plants.

5. Pay attention to water quality

Use clean, unpolluted water, and avoid using tap water containing chlorine to water the flowers directly. Leave it for a day to allow the chlorine to evaporate before using again.

6. Control frequency

Adjust watering frequency according to the season, climate, and plant growth conditions. For example, in hot and dry seasons, you need to water more frequently, while in wet or cold seasons, you should water less frequently.

7. Combined fertilization

During the peak growing season, you can adopt the method of "thin fertilizer and frequent application", dilute the fertilizer with clean water and apply it at the same time as watering to help plants better absorb nutrients.

In general, watering is a key step in the flower-growing process. Only by mastering the correct watering method and combining it with other maintenance and management, can any flower grow very strong.
