Narcissus is a plant that likes cold and fears heat. When it blooms, the temperature needs to be lower so that the flowering time will be longer. Therefore, when the daffodils are blooming, you need to create a low-temperature environment for them. They can be placed in a well-ventilated place for maintenance. Be careful to keep them away from heaters and other places with relatively high temperatures. When they are about to bloom, they need to be moved to a place with relatively low temperatures to avoid direct sunlight.

Appropriate topdressing

Appropriate top dressing can also extend the flowering period of daffodils. Narcissus has a relatively large demand for nutrients during the growth period of buds, but the nutrients it contains are insufficient to meet the needs of flowering. After the flower buds begin to grow, you can apply some phosphorus and potassium fertilizers to the daffodils every week, or inject glucose until the flowers fade. After topdressing, the flowering period of daffodils can be extended by at least one week.

Refrigeration

Refrigeration can also prolong the flowering period of daffodils. When one or two flowers of the daffodil are open, you can take out the flower ball and put it in the refrigerator. After a few days, take it out and put it back in the flowerpot, and it will bloom normally.

Other methods

In addition, you can also use salt to prolong the flowering period of daffodils. When all the daffodils are in full bloom, sprinkle some salt in the flowerpot to prolong its flowering period. But be careful not to sprinkle salt when the buds have not opened. Adding some aspirin tablets can also help prolong the flowering period.
