Growth habitBougainvillea prefers a warm and humid climate and needs sufficient light. Its lifespan will be increased if there is less water. Bougainvillea will enter a dormant period in the cold winter. During the non-dormant period, the flowers will fall due to insufficient light, or too much water. Watering methodBougainvillea has many leaves, and they are also very large, so its water is easily consumed and the amount of water evaporation is large, especially in summer. So take proper watering measures. First of all, during the early summer growing period, you should increase the amount of watering to promote the growth of branches and leaves. After the growing season, in late summer, you should reduce the amount of watering, generally 3 or 4 times, which can speed up its germination and growth. Secondly, when the bougainvillea sprouts and grows buds, you should increase the amount of watering again to promote flowering. Finally, after October in early winter, as the temperature drops, the amount of watering should be reduced to once every three days. As the temperature continues to drop, do not water if the soil is not dry. Or wait until the soil is completely dry before watering. The water control of Bougainvillea lasts for about three weeks. It is done before flowering and must be completed. When controlling the water, water half less than usual, or just spray. You don’t need to water the plant on rainy days, but you can increase the amount of water appropriately in hot weather. Do not apply fertilizer during the water control period. |
