Mechanical treatment① Peeling: Peel off the epidermis before cutting to enhance the water absorption capacity of the cuttings and promote rooting. ② Ring peeling: For plants such as Milan, gardenia, osmanthus, and rose, the base of the branches will be ring peeled during the growth period, so that a large amount of nutrients will accumulate in the ring-barking area. During the dormant period, they can be cut along the ring-barking area for cuttings to promote rooting. Heel cuttingsThat is to say, when green branches are being propagated, the lower part of the cuttings should have a section like a human heel, which is conducive to the rooting of the cuttings, as shown in the picture. For example, when taking cuttings from flowers and trees such as camellia, osmanthus, and fig, you can add a few branches from the previous year to the base of the cuttings to make it easier for them to take root. Increase the bottom temperature of the slotting bedIf it is a potted plant, you can place it on a radiator or kang with wooden boards in winter. If conditions permit, use an electric hotbed for cuttings, which will have better results. Use rooting powderYou can use ABT rooting powder to soak the base of annual tender branches for about 0.5 to 1 hour, take them out and immediately insert them into the substrate. ABT rooting powder is suitable for a large number of flower and tree cuttings, and its rooting effect is better than that of naphthylacetic acid and indolebutyric acid.No rooting powder was used, it looks like 40 days after cuttings! After using rooting powder, it looks like 35 days after cuttings! Six white roots can already be seen! Yellowing treatmentBefore the growing season, cover the branches to be used as cuttings with black plastic bags to allow them to grow in dark conditions. After their branches and leaves grow to a certain extent, cut them off for cuttings. The yellowing treatment is very effective for some flowers that are difficult to root. It usually takes 20 days to treat the yellowing branches, and the effect is better. Water ImmersionFor five-needle pine, gardenia, spider plant, oleander, rose, etc., you can first place the mother plant in a cool place, cut it off after 10 days, soak it in water for a few days, and then plant it. Looking at these little methods to promote rooting, aren’t they easy to do? No need to worry about cuttings not taking root anymore! |
