Cultivation methods and precautions of vanilla

Cultivation methods and precautions of vanilla

1. Maintenance methods

1. Potting soil: The soil for growing vanilla should be loose, moist and well-drained. Such soil is very beneficial to its growth. Be careful not to use soil that has pathogens in it.

2. Water: When watering the herbs, make sure they are watered thoroughly, but do not allow water to accumulate. Normally, water them once every seven days, but the specific amount should be adjusted according to the weather.

3. Nutrients: During the growth period of vanilla, apply some organic fertilizer appropriately. The concentration of fertilizer should not be too high, and thin fertilizer should be applied in small amounts and multiple times.

4. Sunlight: Keep the vanilla in a sunny and ventilated environment, so that the leaves of the vanilla will become thicker. However, the duration of sunlight exposure must be appropriate, and strong light should be avoided. Too strong light will turn its leaves yellow.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Pruning: Dead branches, diseased and insect-infested branches, and yellowed branches should all be cut off. These cut branches and leaves should be cleaned up to prevent them from falling into the potting soil.

2. Reproduction: Vanilla is propagated by sowing, and the sowing time is in spring and autumn. Sow the seeds in the soil, keep the temperature at around 20 degrees, and they will germinate soon.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Pests: The most common ones are aphids. Aphids grow in groups on the back of new shoots and leaves. They suck sap and can be picked off by hand. If you grow it in a potted plant at home, you can use water soaked with tobacco for prevention and control.

2. Wilting leaves: When the leaves begin to wilt and turn yellow, you need to loosen the soil to make it more breathable. If the soil is too moist and compacted, the leaves of the plant will wilt again.

IV. Other issues

1. How to spend the winter: In winter, you must pay attention to the temperature. The temperature cannot be too low. If the temperature is too low, the vanilla will be frostbitten, which will affect the fragrance. Also, don't let it be blown by cold wind. It is recommended to place it in a room with a higher temperature.

2. Can it be placed indoors: Yes, it can be placed indoors. Vanilla will emit a fresh fragrance and make people happy. For indoor cultivation, try to place it in a location with good lighting and ventilation. Poor lighting and ventilation will cause its growth to deteriorate.
