Corn Disease Pictures and Prevention

Corn Disease Pictures and Prevention

Corn is the main food crop in China. Its planting area and total output rank third only to wheat and rice. However, common and serious diseases often occur during corn planting. Here we talk about the complete picture and prevention of corn diseases .

1. Corn smut

Before sowing, mix the seeds with 50% Thiram wettable powder at 0.2% of the seed weight, or mix 50kg of seeds with 200ml of 20% Triadimefon (Triadimefon) emulsion, or mix the seeds with 50% Carbendazim wettable powder at 0.5%-0.7% of the seed weight;

Spraying 50% carbendazim or 5% thiram before corn tassels for 1-2 times can effectively reduce the disease.

2. Corn ear rot

Seed coating or seed dressing, such as coating with 20% Fu·Ke seed coating agent, using 440-800g for every 100g of seeds; or coating with 30% Duo·Ke·Fu seed coating agent, using 200-300g for every 100kg of seeds;

Timely control earworms, and in the early stage of grain formation, control the damage to the ear caused by pests such as corn borers, armyworms, weevils, peach borers, beetles , stink bugs and cotton bollworms;

During the trumpet stage, use 20% Jinggangmycin WP or 40% Carbendazim WP to make medicated soil snacks at 200g per plant to prevent pathogens from infecting leaf sheaths and stems.

During the silking stage, spray the fruit clusters with 400-500 times diluted 65% wettable powder of Dyson to prevent pathogens from invading the fruit clusters.

3. Corn Head Smut

Insist on treating seeds with pesticides before sowing. The most commonly used method is to mix seeds with pesticides, such as 15% triadimefon wettable powder or 50% methyl thiophanate wettable powder at 0.3%-0.5% of seed weight, or 12.5% diniconazole wettable powder or 2% tebuconazole seed dressing at 0.2% of seed weight, or 15% myclobutanil EC seed dressing at 0.1%-0.2% of seed weight. Attention should be paid to the problem of low temperature damage to seed dressing agents containing ethylenediaminetetracycline.

4. Corn stalk rot

For seed dressing, 100-150g of 25% triadimefon wettable powder can be used, mixed with an appropriate amount of water, and 50kg of seeds can be mixed, or seed coating can be adopted, which can effectively reduce the occurrence of stem rot.

In the early stage of the disease, spray the rhizomes with 1500 times diluted 50% procymidone wettable powder, 1000 times diluted 65% mancozeb wettable powder, 500 times diluted 50% carbendazim wettable powder, and 500 times diluted 70% methylsulfate wettable powder. Spray once every 7-10 days and treat 2-3 times in a row.

5. Corn Sheath Blight

Spray with 100 times dilution of 5% Jinggangmycin, 800-1000 times dilution of 40% Sclerotinia wettable powder, 1000-1500 times dilution of 50% Condyl (vinyl sclerotin) or Procymidone (Fopyram) wettable powder, 800-1000 times dilution of 50% Tubendazole (arsine, zinc, and thiram) wettable powder, for 2-3 times in a row. When spraying, be careful to spray the liquid onto the female ear and the stem below.

6. Southern corn rust

At the early stage of the disease, spray 1500-2000 times diluted 25% triadimefon wettable powder, or 3000 times diluted 25% propiconazole emulsifiable concentrate, or 4000-5000 times diluted 12.5% supoli (R-vinazole) wettable powder, once every 10 days or so, and continue prevention and control 2-3 times to control the spread of the disease.

7. Corn brown spot

For prevention, spray 15% triadimefon wettable powder 1000 times on the leaves of corn at the 4-5 leaf stage;

Take timely prevention and control measures. In the summer corn areas of the Huanghuaihai region, use triadimefon, methyl thiophanate, diniconazole and other sprays for prevention and control in mid-July, after the first rainfall, and apply the pesticide to the entire plant. When corn is diseased, you can also spray the leaves with 1500 times diluted 25% fenadone wettable powder, or 1500 times diluted 50% chlorpyrifos (isoprocarb) wettable powder or 1000 times diluted 12.5% oxadiazine (ethylenediamine) wettable powder. To improve the prevention and control effects, you can add appropriate amounts of foliar fertilizers such as foliar fertilizer, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, and urea to the solution to promote the health of corn and improve its disease resistance.

8. Corn Curvularia leaf spot

When the weather is suitable for the disease and the field incidence rate reaches 10%, use 2000 times diluted 25% Propiconazole emulsifiable concentrate, 600 times diluted 75% Benomyl, 500 times diluted 50% Carbendazim, or 600 times diluted 80% Anthraquinone for spraying for prevention and control.

9. Corn leaf spot

Spray pesticides in time at the early stage of the disease. Commonly used pesticides include 500 times diluted 50% carbendazim wettable powder, 500 times diluted 65% mancozeb wettable powder, 500 times diluted 70% methyl thiophanate (methyl thiophanate) wettable powder, 500-800 times diluted 75% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder, or 100-120 times diluted agrochemical 120 aqueous solution for spraying. From the end of the heart leaf stage to the tassel stage, spray once every 7 days for 2-3 times.

10. Corn leaf spot

Use 500 times dilution of 50% carbendazim wettable powder, 800 times dilution of 50% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder, 500 times dilution of 80% mancozeb wettable powder, 500-800 times dilution of 75% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder, 500-800 times dilution of 40% chlorpyrifos emulsifiable concentrate, or 200 times dilution of agricultural antibiotic 120 aqueous solution to spray 1-2 times during the tasseling period of corn, and spray once every 10-15 days.
