Rose cultivation methods and precautions

Rose cultivation methods and precautions

1. Adequate light

Roses prefer a sunny growing environment and need to be planted in a sunny location with at least 5 hours of sunlight per day. If the rose is not exposed to enough light, it will lead to weak branches and leaves, leggy plants, poor flowering, and dull flower colors. Although roses like light, you should pay attention to shade and take sun protection measures when the light is strong in summer.

2. Water in time

In order for roses to grow well, they need to be watered in time. During the growth period, it is necessary to ensure good water supply and keep the soil moist. After the rose enters the flowering period, if the soil in the pot is too dry or too wet, it will cause the flowers to fall off. It is necessary to adhere to the principle of "don't water if it's not dry, and water thoroughly if you do."

3. Appropriate fertilization

Roses should follow the principle of "thin fertilizer and frequent application". Before germination in early March in spring, an appropriate amount of liquid fertilizer can be applied. In summer, after the flowers fade and before the axillary buds develop, a once-decomposed liquid fertilizer can be applied to promote abundant flowering in autumn. Before winter, a small amount of organic fertilizer can be applied to the roots to enhance the plant's resistance to winter.

4. Soil requirements

Roses prefer fertile, moist, loose and breathable soil with rich organic matter and a pH value between 5.6-7.2. The soil can be prepared by mixing 5 parts of garden soil, 3 parts of garbage soil, 2 parts of rice husk ash, and an appropriate amount of vegetable cake.

5. Notes

During the growth stage of roses, they need to be pruned regularly, and the dead flowers and branches should be cut off in time after flowering to promote the sprouting of new branches and more flowering.
